The LEAD Center programs and services are designed to build the leadership capacity of educational leaders involved in reconceptualizing public schooling in our democratic society. We use the word “reconceptualizing” because the work is deep and challenging, requiring skilled, passionate, collaborative leaders with outstanding communication skills. The Center supports the work of schooling in four key areas:
- Comprehensive schools working toward the establishment of small, personalized learning communities
- Small schools of choice created by dedicated groups of parents, teachers, and community members
- Coherence of effort amongst school district leadership, school site leadership and the school community
- Building leadership capacity for emerging teacher and administrator leaders
