Job Description:
Exciting once in a lifetime opportunity to teach at a charter school expanding into a grades 9-12 high school. The high school is a replication site of High Tech High San Diego. Teachers use innovative curriculum and teaching methodologies to establish a culture of educational excellence through great professional development opportunities and team teaching. Teachers must be visionaries, eager to be in the forefront of educational practices and must embrace the challenge of demonstrating that public education in a low-income, primarily immigrant, multilingual area can succeed. About Us The charter high school is located in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. The new high school site is located just off the 101 Silver Lake exit at the corner of Virgil and Silver Lake/Temple. CNHS is an affiliate of High Tech High and the Coalition of Essential Schools. Camino Nuevo Charter Academy opened in August 2000, and currently educates 1,200 students in grades K-8 at four campuses along the Wilshire Corridor in central Los Angeles. Literacy development, college preparation, community investment, and high expectations for students and staff form the core of the educational philosophy. High Tech High San Diego (HTH) began operations in fall 2000, and currently educates 400 students in grades 9-12. As of fall 2003, four HTH sites have been launched to replicate the design model, emphasizing small school size, small classes, personalized project-based learning, real-world immersion, and performance-based assessment. Responsibilities Teachers will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to: • Preparing/implementing project based lesson plans that lead to student mastery of curriculum content • Developing /implementing integrated curriculum units • Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities • Communicating frequently with students, students’ families, colleagues and other stakeholders • Passion for working with children and their families • Participate in the schools’ community outreach efforts

Qualifications:
