Job Description: Boston Latin Academy (BLA), a fabulous public school in the city of Boston, is seeking a new Director of Mathematics.
General Description and Goals:
One of the key goals of the Boston Public Schools Mathematics Plan is that all students will develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, procedures, and language needed to meet the demands of rigorous state and local performance standards. In the interest of meeting this goal, the Boston Public Schools are engaged in a citywide effort to support and ensure the effective implementation of exemplary curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices in each elementary, middle and high school. The Program Director, Mathematics will assist the in the implementation of all aspects of the BPS Math Plan, including professional development, assessment design and administration, and the supervision of Math Coaches.
Responsibilities:
Candidate must have a degree in mathematics and must be willing and able to teach an Advanced Placement mathematics course.
Supervise and evaluate teachers in the mathematics department.
Coordinate professional development for members of the department.
Coordinate and supervise MCAS testing.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as designated by the Headmaster.
Qualifications: Must be certified to teach Mathematics.
Salary & Benefits: $83,584-$95,958
