Fall Forum 2016: The Highlights

reg buttonIn December 2016, the Coalition of Essential Schools will hold an extraordinary national gathering in Providence, RI, where our work began in 1984. Fall Forum 2016 will gather educators and advocates skilled at and committed to student-focused, teacher-led, equitable, and challenging learning.

The Fall Forum will take place at the Providence Omni Hotel. We have arranged for discounted hotel rooms at the Omni for Fall Forum registrants, if reserved by November 10, 2016. Please visit the Fall Forum hotel and travel page for more information. This will be CES’s final Fall Forum, and we expect to reach capacity. Please register as soon as you can to secure your place at CES’s conversation among friends.

Join us for this historic gathering as we reflect on the work of the Coalition of Essential Schools, the contributions of Ted Sizer and generations of CES educators, the inheritors and sustainers of CES’s work, and the future of schools led by the questions and passions of students and teachers.

Highlights include:

→ Thursday, December 1 pre-conference events, including school visits to three of Rhode Island’s most innovative and successful schools; “Let’s Talk: Theodore Sizer and the Founding of the Coalition of Essential Schools” exhibit; and screening of the film Most Likely to Succeed followed by discussion with filmmakers, and local/national education change leaders

→ Educator- and student-led workshops aligned to five content strands: school design, student voice, classroom practices, community connections, and leadership/professional development. The full schedule of workshops is here: cesfallforum2016.sched.org

→ Featured sessions and speakers José Luis Vilson, Linda Darling-Hammond, Nick Donohue, Dennis Littky, Deborah Meier, Nancy Sizer, Sam Seidel, Tony Simmons, Marc Chun, Linda Nathan, and more

→ “At the Copier” evening event with personal stories schools, the journey of CES, and the impact of the Common Principles

→ Open networking opportunities and small group sessions with national thought leaders

→ Progressive Ed Bookstore featuring the core CES collection of publications, along with book signings with CES authors

→ CES-specific networking and support

Fall Forum Registration

CES Affiliates receive Fall Forum discounts, and affiliation is FREE! Visit the Join CES page to affiliate with CES and then come back here to register your team for Fall Forum.

Fall Forum registration fees:

CES Affiliate – $400 | Non Affiliate – $500 for December 1 pre-conference activities, and all Fall Forum December 2 and 3 events

One-day rates for either Friday, December 2 or Saturday, December 3: CES Affiliate – $200 | Non Affiliate – $250

Thursday, December 1 school visits are $150 per person, payable at registration
