Assistant Project Manager

Building on The Learning Community’s extraordinary success closing the achievement gap for Latino and high poverty students as well as our success improving student performance in traditional partner school districts, we are embarking on an ambitious start-up initiative aimed at developing innovative Urban Teacher Residency and Urban Principal Residency programs rooted within The Learning Community. We seek an Assistant Project Manager to help lead the start-up phase.

The goals of the Assistant Project Manager are: to facilitate the completion of four separate applications for accreditation of a Rhode Island Urban Teacher Residency (with English Language Learner certification) as well as a Master’s in School Leadership with principal certification.

Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities are to:
- Facilitate a high quality process for LC team members, external partners and mentor sites to enable us to use our collective expertise in a cohesive design process
- Maintain clear communication with the core committee about the key deadlines and milestones of each accreditation process to keep committee members on track
- Arrange visits to model sites, be responsible for follow up communication with all research sites and model sites, our mentor site, Bank St College in NY, as well as all accrediting agencies
- Keep clear documentation of our progress toward accreditation at each stage.
- Write original drafts when appropriate

Qualities of Promising Candidates for this Position:
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent communication skills with quick response times
- Able to juggle, prioritize and keep extremely organized a multifaceted initiative
- Is very detail oriented including attending to clean wordsmithing of own and other’s written contributions
- Very open to feedback and good at documenting feedback
- Excellent meeting facilitation skills
- Holds a firm belief in an inclusive and efficient process / the knowledge and talent of teachers, professors and other team members

This position will be directly supervised by the Teaching Studio Director with the support of Meg O’Leary, one of the Co-Directors of The Learning Community.
