Job Description:

The Learning Community, a vibrant public charter school, seeks to hire a Youth Worker to be a part of our Afterschool, Recess and Lunch Team. We need reliable, positive people to work part-time and help ensure an enriching and safe environment during recess, lunch, study hall and afterschool. We seek fantastic people who will help manage these daily times where we encourage our students to explore, play, invent and socialize. Your ability to model respectful communication, safe behavior and positive group dynamics can help make this time fun, relaxing and productive for our students.

After School Team members plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities in areas including science, the arts and team games. Other daily responsibilities include monitoring independent homework time and free play time.
Hours This position is 5 days a week for our 11:30-1:15 lunch/recess block and during our afterschool program, which runs a homework club and enrichment activities for students from 2:15-6:00, 5 days a week. Training is provided.

Key Qualities Candidates must have:

* a passion for supporting students' exploration and growth,

* experience with elementary and middle school students,

* clear and precise language with children,

* flexibility and an ability to manage groups,

* interest in listening to feedback from families and staff, and

* the ability to hold children to high expectations.

Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach, experience working in collaboration with teachers, and bilingual in English and Spanish are a plus.
