Lewis Cohen joins CES National as the new Executive Director, focusing on strategic planning and alignment, relationship building, and advocacy. Most recently Lewis was an Assistant Superintendent in the Oakland Unified School District where he was in charge of policy and legislation, communications, and personnel. At O.U.S.D., Lewis played a lead role in strategic planning, organizational development and implementation of Oakland’s New Small Autonomous Schools policy. Lewis previously worked as Legislative Analyst for the City of Oakland and was documentary filmmaker and investigative journalist for public radio and television. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Born and raised in New York City, David Siegfried has taught English Language Arts, Social Studies and coached Theater. He holds a Masters of Education in Teaching from the University of Hawai’i-Manoa, and is dual-certified in Secondary Language Arts and Social Studies.
